Peter Baumann

Peter Baumann ( born January 29, 1953 in Berlin ) is a German electronic musician and music publishers. As a member of electronic music group Tangerine Dream, he wrote an important chapter in German rock history. His synthesizer sound experiments were groundbreaking for the electronic rock music of the 1980s.

Peter Baumann's first solo album was recorded in 1976; the music contained on it orientated himself strongly to the line of Tangerine Dream sounds. End of 1977, Baumann left the group in order to concentrate on his solo career, and moved to the United States. There he founded in 1984 with ' Private Music ' his own music label and offered on this path known musicians the opportunity to realize projects that they could not implement in established record companies from contractual or other plant-specific reasons. Thus, inter alia, published Yanni, Patrick O'Hearn, Ravi Shankar, Andy Summers (Police), Jerry Goodman, Suzanne Ciani, Philip Glass, Eddie Jobson, Leo Kottke and even Baumann's former colleagues from Tangerine Dream ( among other things with the albums Lily on the Beach, Melrose, Miracle Mile and Optical Race ) exceptional sound recordings on " Private Music ". Baumann sold his company in the late 1990s to the BMG and now lives in California, from the proceeds of the sale.
