Peter Bichsel

Peter Bichsel ( born March 24, 1935 in Lucerne ) is a Swiss writer, best known for his short stories and columns.

Life

Peter Bichsel grew up as the son of a craftsman first in Lucerne, in 1941 in Olten. At the teacher training college in Solothurn he trained as a primary school teacher. In 1956 he married the actress Therese Spoerri († 2005); He has one daughter and one son. In 1957 he joined the Social Democratic Party of Switzerland at ( PLC), from 1995, he resigned again. He describes himself as a socialist. Up to 1968 ( and for the last time in 1973 ), he worked as a primary school teacher. Between 1974 and 1981 he worked as a personal advisor for Federal Willi Ritschard, with whom he was friends. With the writer Max Frisch he was up to his death in 1991 a close friend. Bichsel lives in Bellach near Solothurn.

Work

After a few minor publications - especially poetry - in newspapers, a first attempt prose appeared in 1960 as a private printing. In the winter of 1963/64, he took part in a prose - writing course in Berlin, led by Höllerer. From this course, conceive a documentary volume, prose writing (1964 ), and a joint novel of the participants (among others: Hubert Fichte and Klaus Stiller ), The Guest House (1965 ), to the Bichsel contributed the first chapter.

His premature legacy is located in the Swiss Literary Archives in Bern.
