Peter Bieri

Peter Bieri ( born June 21, 1952 in Winterthur; homeland justified in Hünenberg ZG and Romoos ) is a Swiss politician ( CVP). In 2007 he was president of the Council of States.

Life

Bieri studied agronomy at the ETH Zurich, where he in 1978 as Ing Agr. graduate and 1982 at the Institute of Animal Sciences as Dr. sc. doctorate. He was from 1982 to 2009 teacher at the cantonal agricultural education and advisory center Schluechthof in Cham. He currently chairs the information service for public transport LITRA.

Since 23 January 1995 he represents Canton train in the Senate. On 4 December 2006 he was elected Senate President. In his capacity as Senate, he chaired the audit commission in 1998/99, the Commission of Science, Education and Culture 2002 / 03, the Commission for Transport and Telecommunications 2008/ 09, the EFTA EU delegation in 1998/99 and the delegation to the Interparliamentary Union 2004/05.

Peter Bieri is married, father of four adult children and lives in giant mountain. In the Swiss army, he was until 2003 Major.
