Peter Carter (author)

Peter Carter ( born August 13, 1929 † 21 July 1999) was an English teacher and author.

Peter Carter came from an Anglo-Irish family. He studied at Oxford in English Literature and then took the teaching profession. He found that students often have little interest in the traditional literature. So he began writing.

Carter's first novel Madatan, the life history of the Celts from the west coast of England, was published in 1974 in the original and in 2000 in German translation. His best-known children's books that have been published in German language, also include: The Sentinel (1995 ), Children of the book in the battle for Vienna ( 1996), Hunted! (1997) and Farewell to Cheyenne ( 1998). "Farewell to Cheyenne " was nominated for the German Youth Literature Award 1999. He died in July 1999 on the pages of his latest book bent.
