Peter Chiarelli (ice hockey)

Peter Chiarelli (* August 5, 1964 in Nepean, Ontario ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player and current since July 8, 2006 General Manager of the Boston Bruins.

Career

Chiarelli played during his junior time for the ice hockey team of Harvard University, for his team, he was active from 1983 to 1987 in the National Collegiate Athletic Association. The Center completed 109 games for Harvard University, in which he scored 47 points and received 70 penalty minutes. He played in the 1987/88 season with the Nottingham Panthers in the British Hockey League four league games in which he scored 13 points scorer and was awarded two penalty minutes.

He received in 1987 his diploma in Economics and received his law degree from the University of Ottawa. He received in 1993 the admission to the bar and spent six years as a lawyer and player consultant.

Later, he was appointed assistant general manager of the Ottawa Senators and held this position two years held. Chiarelli was appointed on 26 May 2006 as General Manager of the Boston Bruins, after his predecessor Mike O'Connell had been released at the Bruins. He took this position on 8 July 2006.
