Peter Firth

Peter Firth ( born October 27, 1953 in Bradford, Yorkshire, United Kingdom) is a British actor.

Curriculum vitae

Peter Firth grew up as an only child of a pub owner in the north of England. In school, he began to play theater. A teacher recognized his talent and gave him this speech lessons. While still a student, he then attended acting classes of domestic Bradford Civis Theatre drama club and eventually debuted at the local Alhambra Theatre in the musical Camelot. He began to take small roles on television, and first gained notoriety with the series FLEXTON Boys and Here Come The Double Deckers.

After school, Firth had in 1973 his film debut in Franco Zeffirelli film Brother Sun, Sister Moon on St. Francis of Assisi. In 1974, he played in London at the theater in Equus by Peter Shaffer opposite Richard Burton, and on Broadway opposite Anthony Hopkins the role of Alan Strang. The filming of the drama in 1977 by Sidney Lumet was the breakthrough for Firth. He received for his portrayal of a Golden Globe and was nominated for an Oscar.

In the following years, he took over the main and supporting roles in various films. In Germany, he gained notoriety for his role as " Harry Pearce " in the series Spooks - In sight of the MI5.

Firth lives with his wife Kate, and their two children ( daughter and son) in Hampstead ( London).
