Peter G. Torkildsen

Peter Gerard Torkildsen ( born January 28, 1958 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin) is an American politician. Between 1993 and 1997 he represented the state of Massachusetts in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Peter Torkildsen visited and 1980, the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Then he studied until 1990 political science at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, which belongs to Harvard University. Between 1982 and 1984 Torkildsen worked as coordinator of the vistiting Nurse Association in Boston. At the same time he began a political career as a member of the Republican Party. Between 1985 and 1990 he sat as an MP in the House of Representatives from Massachusetts. In the years 1988, 1996 and 2008 he was a delegate to the Republican National Conventions relevant. Between 1991 and 1992 he was in Massachusetts state commissioner of labor and industry.

In the congressional elections of 1992 Torkildsen in the sixth constituency of Massachusetts was in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Nicholas Mavroules on January 3, 1993. After a re-election he was able to complete in Congress until January 3, 1997, two legislative sessions. He was regarded as rather conservative MP.

1996 Peter Torkildsen was not re-elected. Two years later, he failed with a new Congress candidacy. Between 2001 and 2003 he was a member of the Massachusetts Labor Relations Commission. After that, he served as executive director of the Workforce Investment Board in Massachusetts. Between 2007 and 2009 he was chairman of the Republican Party at the state level. Otherwise, he has worked as a private businessman.
