Peter Goldreich

Peter Goldreich (born 14 July 1939 New York City ) is an American astrophysicist.

Goldreich received a doctorate in physics in 1963 at Cornell University. After a stay at the University of Cambridge, he became in 1964 assistant professor at the University of California, Los Angeles. In 1966 he moved to the California Institute of Technology where he was a professor until his retirement in 2003. He then joined the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton.

Gold Empire theoretical work spanning many topics, including planets and their rings, the dynamics of galaxies, astrophysical masers, the interstellar medium, pulsars and helioseismology.
