Peter Gschnitzer

Peter Gschnitzer (* July 10, 1953 in Sterzing ) is a former Italian luger.

Sporting successes

The South Tyrolean Gschnitzer Peter was a member of the Italian luge team from the mid 1970s to the late 1980s.

His greatest sporting success came Peter Gschnitzer 1980 at the Olympic Games in Lake Placid in the doubles competition, as he won the silver medal together with Karl Brunner and behind the duo Hans Rinn / Norbert Hahn from the GDR.

In the FIL World Luge Championships in Igls 1977 he won also the silver medal (winner again Hans Rinn / Norbert Rahn ) and at the European Championships 1979 in Oberhof the bronze medal - getting together with Karl Brunner.

Gschnitzer and Brunner were 1977/78 and 1978/79 to decide for the first two World Cup sweeps.
