Peter I. Borst

Peter J. Borst ( born April 24, 1797 in Middleburgh, New York, † November 14, 1848 ) was an American politician. Between 1829 and 1831 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Peter J. Borst was born shortly before the end of the 18th century in Middleburgh in Schoharie County and grew up there. During this time he attended community schools. He then managed a own property, which he called " The Hook ". He held various local offices, and was a senior executive ( officer ) of the Schoharie County Agricultural Society. Borst was also an officer in the National Guard of New York and served on the staff of Governor William C. Bouck. Politically, he was a member of the Jacksonian Group.

In the congressional elections of 1828 for the 21th Congress bristle was in the twelfth electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of John I. De Graff after March 4, 1829. He retired after March 3, 1831 from the Congress.

After his conference time he returned to his estate. In 1838 he was appointed by the Board of Supervisors of Schoharie County in the committee that oversaw the construction of the First County Almshouse. He died on November 14, 1848 in Middleburgh, and was then buried in the family cemetery of his estate.
