Peter II of Cyprus

Peter II (c. 1357; † October 13, 1382 ) was from 1369 until his death in 1382 the King of Cyprus.

Life

He was the son of King Peter I and Eleonora of Aragon, which was co-regent from 1369 to 1379.

Peter II was in 1372, 15 years old, crowned in Famagusta. After the riots Genoese occupied the city in 1373, Peter had to pay tribute.

In 1373 he lost the conquered by his father coastal cities of Cilicia to the Ottomans and thus the crown of Armenia.

Peter married in September 1378 Valenza Visconti, daughter of Bernabo Visconti, with whom he had a daughter, but died before him. Since he had no children, took over after his early death, his uncle James I the crown.
