Peter Jahr

Dieter Peter Jahr ( born April 24, 1959 in Burgstädt ) is a German politician ( CDU). He is a former member of the Saxon Parliament and the German Bundestag. Since 2009 he is member of the European Parliament.

Life and career

After graduation in 1977 at an Extended Upper School (EOS) year made ​​his military service in the National People's Army and began in 1979 to study agriculture at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig, which he finished in 1984 with a degree in agriculture. Year then worked as a research assistant at the University of Leipzig until 1988. In 1988, also his Ph.D. in Agriculture with the thesis " Economic evaluation of selected features of the cattle production." He worked as an economist in the Agricultural Production Cooperative ( LPG) " Justus von Liebig " in Taura active. Peter Jahr is married and has four children.

Party

Year was 1988 to 1990 the Democratic Peasants' Party of Germany ( DBD) in the GDR and entered 1990 in the CDU. From 1995 to 2007 he was Chairman of the CDU district association Mittweida.

Member of Parliament

Year was in 1994 a member of the City Council of Lunzenau and the county council of the county Mittweida. From 1990 to 2002 he was a member of the Saxon Parliament, where agricultural policy spokesman of the CDU parliamentary group.
