Peter Kinzing

Peter Kinzing ( born December 21, 1745 in Neuwied, † January 1816 in Mannheim, Germany ) was a German watchmaker and mechanic.

Peter Kinzing came from the family of watchmakers Kinzing ( Kintzing ), who belonged to the religious community of Mennonites in Neuwied. He was the Duke of Nassau court watchmaker and royal French court watchmaker and Mechanicus.

Celebrity in Europe became the family Kin (t ) zing in the 18th century through the collaboration with the art Schreiner family to Abraham and David Roentgen. Important members of this family were Christian Kintzing (1707-1804) and his son Peter Kinzing ( 1745-1816 ). As of 1770 intensive cooperation between the watchmaker's workshop Kinzing and the carpenter's workshop Roentgen.

After 1785 the construction of a series of musical clocks with organ and cymbal ( cymbal Latin ).

Watches by Kinzing are now in the collections of major museums worldwide.
