Peter Koech

Peter Koech ( born February 18, 1958 in Kilibwoni ) is a former Kenyan steeplechaser.

At the World Athletics Championships 1987 in Rome, he took over 3000 - meter steeplechase in seventh place. However, the greatest success of his career, he celebrated at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, when he won the silver medal in the steeplechase. With a time of 8:06,79 minutes he was beaten only his compatriot Julius Kariuki.

On July 3, 1989 Koech presented in Stockholm on a new world record in the steeplechase, undercutting with his time of 8:05,35 min to over eleven years old, stopped manually record of Henry Rono ( 8:05,4 min). Three years later Kiptanui improved the record of 8:02,08 min.

Peter Koech is 1,80 m tall and weighed 67 kg to his playing days.
