Peter Lynch

Peter Lynch ( born January 19, 1944 in Boston) was an investment fund manager and consultant at Fidelity Investments.

Life

Lynch joined the Boston College in 1965 from and completed his studies with a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1968. Lynch began in 1966 as an intern at Fidelity Investments, after serving as a caddy for the president of Fidelity and other at the Brae Burn Country Club in Newton (Massachusetts ) had been active. Initially, he worked on the paper, chemical, and printing industries. After his two-year military service in the U.S. Army as a lieutenant in the artillery in 1969, he received his permanent position. At this time, Lynch was given the power to monitor the textile industry, metals, mining, chemical industry and was from 1974 to 1977, Fidelity 's director of research. In 1977, Lynch became the administrator of the then largely unknown mutual fund Magellan Fund, which had issued shares for 18 million U.S. dollars. Already in 1983, the fund assets managed by Lynch reached the one billion mark. As Lynch retired in 1990 as a fund manager, the fund had grown to assets of more than 14 billion U.S. dollars, with more than 1,000 different stocks. From 1977 to 1990 Lynch reached with the Magellan fund an average annual return of 29.2 %.

Lynch said in his books investment strategies for individual investors. He also wrote in Worth magazine article about investments.

He is not related to Edmund C. Lynch, co-founder of the investment bank Merrill Lynch.
