Peter Madsen (pianist)

Peter Madsen ( born July 19, 1955 in Racine, Wisconsin) is an American jazz pianist.

Life

Madsen began 8 years studying classical piano, two years later, the double bass. At the age of 13 years, his interest in jazz was awakened. After high school he attended the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire, where he successfully completed the educational music education. He moved to Minneapolis to completely focus on jazz piano playing.

Two years later, Peter Madsen went to New York City. In 1987 he got the chance with Stan Getz to tour the U.S. and Europe. Since then, Peter Madsen has played with many different sizes of the jazz scene, including Mario Pavone, Stan Getz, Kiyoto Fujiwara, Michael Musillami, Matt Wilson.

He has toured around the world and has already released more than 80 albums and wrote more than 230 compositions. For several years, Madsen lives partly in New York City, partly in maximum. He teaches master classes and private students ( including David Helbock ) and gives workshops at the Jazz Seminar in Dornbirn.

From 20 to 29 August 2010, he heads the border river - World Jazz Festival, with a total of eight events at various venues in the districts Perg and Amstetten in the Upper and Lower Austrian border region.
