Peter Mattei

Peter Mattei ( pronunciation: [ ˌ pe ː təɹ matɛj ː ], born June 3, 1965 in Piteå ) is a Swedish opera and concert singer (baritone ).

Peter Mattei studied at the Royal College of Music and at the Academy of opera artists ( Operahögskolan ) in Stockholm.

In 1990, he debuted at the Drottningholm Court Theatre in Mozart's La finta giardiniera. His international breakthrough he experienced in 1998 as Don Giovanni, directed by Peter Brook at the Festival d' Aix -en- Provence.

Mattei had in recent seasons engagements at the Metropolitan Opera, Frankfurt Opera, the Salzburg Festival, the Stockholm Royal Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Teatro alla Scala, the Opéra National de Paris, the Bavarian State Opera, San Francisco Opera, the Glyndebourne Festival, the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie and at the Staatsoper Berlin. Mattei is currently regarded as one of the most in-demand baritones of his generation.
