Peter Medak

Peter Medak ( born December 23, 1937 in Budapest, Hungary, Peter Medak ) is a Hungarian film director.

Life and achievements

Medak fled in 1956 during the Hungarian uprising to England, where in the film industry, he gained experience from the following year. He led in TV series, TV movies and feature films directed. His first feature film was the drama Negatives with Glenda Jackson. Medak was in his current 50 - year career 50 times worked as a director, for example, in the musical comedy The Ruling Class with Peter O'Toole, whose main role was nominated for an Oscar. Among Medaks other works: the thriller Romeo Is Bleeding starring Gary Oldman and Lena Olin, the film drama The Hunchback of Notre Dame with Mandy Patinkin, Richard Harris, Salma Hayek, at the Medak also served as co-producer, and the science fiction film species II starring Michael Madsen and Natasha Henstridge.

Since 1988 Medak is married to singer Julia Migenes.

At the International Film Festival of Cannes 1972, he was nominated for The Ruling Class for the Golden Palm. In 1991, he won the Evening Standard British Film Award for Best Film The Krays. In the same year he was nominated for this film at Fanta postage for the International Fantasy Film Award.
