Peter Mikkelsen (referee)

Peter Mikkelsen ( born May 1, 1960 in Copenhagen) is a Danish former football referee.

Career as a referee

World and European Championships

With the Football World Cup 1990 in Italy, he led Germany - Yugoslavia as well as the second round match England - Belgium. At the World Championship in Sweden in 1992, he led the CIS - Netherlands. With the Football World Cup 1994 in the USA, he led Spain - South Korea, Switzerland - Colombia and the knockout stages Netherlands - Ireland. Speculation that Mikkelsen was entrusted with the direction of the finale were zunichtegemacht through the intervention of FIFA president Joao Havelange, who sat by the Hungarian Sándor Puhl.

At the European Championships in England in 1996 he refereed the match between Bulgaria and Romania.

Peter Mikkelsen is active as a referee observer UEFA and works extensively with the Danish referee offspring. He sits still in the Referees Committee of FIFA.
