Peter Mueller (ice hockey)

Peter Mueller ( born April 14, 1988 in Bloomington, Minnesota ) is an American professional ice hockey player. Since the summer of 2013 he plays for the Kloten Flyers in the National League A on the position of the center.

Career

Mueller started his career at the age of 15 years in the U.S. National Team Development Program of the U.S. Ice Hockey Federation USA Hockey. At first he was active in the teams of the U17 and U18 classes, but also was a regular in the North American Hockey League in the elite team of the Association for use. In his two seasons with the Center won 50 scorer points in 57 games, but decided in the summer of 2005 for a U.S. citizen uncharacteristically against continuing the career at the college or university. Instead, joined Mueller in the Canadian Junior Football League Western Hockey League, where he went two seasons for the Everett Silvertips on ice. DC in his rookie year, Mueller scored 58 points and was awarded at the end of the season with the Jim Piggott Memorial Trophy for the best league newcomer. In addition, the Phoenix Coyotes selected him in the NHL Entry Draft in 2006 in the first round, eighth overall position. The following year, Mueller increased its yield point by a further 20 points, after which he received his first professional contract with the Coyotes in the summer of 2007.

In the NHL Mueller initially had problems to acclimatise and started with problems in the playing time. Just two weeks after the start of the season he scored his first goal, but came in better with the style of play in the pros cope. On 7 November, he recorded his first hat-trick and was invited in January to the NHL Young Stars Game. In addition, he was appointed in the same month for rookie of the month. He finished the season finally with 54 points on 81 games on the fourth place in the rookie scorer standings and as the third- best scorer of the Coyotes.

Shortly before the transfer deadline of the 2009/10 season, the striker was transferred to streaky performance along with Kevin Porter to Denver for the Colorado Avalanche, the Coyotes received in return Wojtek Wolski. In Colorado, its performance curve in the first few games showed a steep upward so he could achieve 20 points in 15 games before 4 April 2010 in the game against the San Jose Sharks after a shove into the boards by defender Rob Blake with a skull brain injury for the rest of the season turned out. Internationally

Mueller took the U.S. national team at the Junior World Championships 2007 in Sweden. After a weak first round he led the team with Erik Johnson and Patrick Kane to win the bronze medal. In the senior level, he was nominated for the 2008 World Championship in Canada.
