Péter Nádas

Péter Nadas [ pe ː na ː tɛr dɒʃ ] ( born October 14, 1942 in Budapest) is a Hungarian writer and photographer.

Life

Nadas into a Jewish - communist family. His mother died before the Hungarian Revolution, his father chose to commit suicide in 1958. The orphan studied chemistry and worked for many years as a photographer and photojournalist. After the first publication of one of his stories in a magazine in 1965, he worked as a freelance writer. From January 1981 to February 1982 he was living at the invitation of DAAD in West Berlin.

His books deal mainly with the situation in Communist Hungary. The publication of his first novel the end of a family novel was prevented in Hungary for several years by the censors before the book finally appeared in 1977. In 1985, the 1,300 -page novel book of remembrance was published. Péter Nadas had been working on the book since 1973. The plot consists of three interwoven narrative strands, one of which in the GDR in the 1970s, one plays around the turn of the century and one in Hungary at the time of the uprising of 1956 in the seaside resort of Heiligendamm. 2005 appeared the three-volume novel parallel stories of its origin Péter Nadas had worked a total of 18 years and traces the story of a Hungarian and a German family from seemingly unrelated episodes through the 20th century. Péter Nadas is married since 1990 with Magda Salamon, with whom he has lived since 1962. Today he lives and works in Budapest and Gombosszeg, a village in Zala county.

Photography
