Peter Neumair

Peter Neumair ( born October 9, 1950 in Freising ) is a former German wrestler.

Career

Peter Neumair grew up in the greater community Hallbergmoos near Munich, where he began as a child with the rings. About the various youth and junior classes he fought his way over the years, for the SV " Siegfried" Hallbergmoos starting in the German top class of freestyle wrestler into it. He dominated in the 1970s in the Federal Republic in the middle or heavyweight class, but had on the international stage in Horst Stottmeister from Leipzig a German rival, whom he could not defeat. Against those regarded as unbeatable Soviet wrestler Levan Tediaschwili delivered several courageous battles and defeated by these often barely on points. His best finish at an international competition was the 2nd place at the European Championship 1976 in Leningrad. His greatest single achievement was the victory over world champion Uwe Neupert from East Germany at the 1978 World Cup in Mexico City.

After he could not start at the Olympic Games in Moscow because of the Olympic boycotts of the western states in 1980 and also with his club Siegfried Hallbergmoos, which he loyalty had kept all his wrestlers career, discrepancies occurred, he stepped back and keeps fit with football and tennis. By profession, Peter Neumair is master mason.
