Peter of Dusburg

Peter of Dusburg, Peter of Duisburg, was a chronicler of the Teutonic Order.

Peter of Dusburg lived from about the second half of the 13th until the first half of the 14th century, but its exact survival data are unknown. His main work Chronicon Terrae Prussiae ( "Chronicle of the land of Prussia " ) written by the German religious priests in Königsberg in the time of the Grand Master Werner von Orseln. Him he gave in 1326 the factory. Additions to its rich history to 1330. The work was intended as a table reading for the friars. The text begins in 1190. In the factory, the military history of the Order is described in Prussia country. In addition, characteristics of the pagan Prussians are named, with details about their beliefs, sanctuaries and cults (see Baltic mythology). The Chronicle has survived only in copies from the 15th century. Dusburgs Chronicles has been critically commented by Max Toeppen and other historians.
