Peter Sarstedt

Peter Sarstedt ( born December 10, 1941 in Delhi, India) is a British- Indian musician.

Sarstedt was born in the former British colony, the son of English landowners ( tea cultivation ). As a result of the Indian independence drew only the father and then the mother of Peter and his three brothers in 1954 to England. Even before his arrival, Peter's father died.

Throughout his career, Peter Sarstedt wrote more than 100 songs. His biggest success in 1969 was Where Do You Go To ( My Lovely ); a song that was influenced not only by the burgeoning rock / pop movement, but also has strong elements of French chanson. Noteworthy are the very lyrical texts whose stories always authentic act (Beirut, Mulberry Dawn, Hemingway, Love Among the Ruins ). The song The Last Of The Breed album from England 's Lane (1997) is subtitled Lovely 2 and again takes up the backstory of his hit Where Do You Go To ( My Lovely ) by the main character Marie Claire.

Before Peter Sarstedts career his brother Richard had already become ( under the pseudonym Eden Kane ) at the beginning of the 1960s, the idol of teenagers. Mid-1970s, reached his brother Robin the charts.

His hit Where Do You Go To ( My Lovely ) is in the film The Darjeeling Limited, and especially in his " Prologue " Hotel Chevalier (both from 2007 ) prominently used.
