Peter Sendel

Peter Sendel ( born March 6, 1972 in Ilmenau ) is a former German biathlete.

Since 1978, Peter Sendel dedicated to the biathlon. He was regarded as a safe shooter and was therefore often used in relay events. At the Olympic Winter Games in Nagano in 1998, he won the relay gold medal, also with the season he achieved a silver medal at the Olympics in 2002 in Salt Lake City. On 26 December 2004, he declared surprising his immediate resignation from competitive sports and two days later he played with Katrin Apel at the World Team Challenge his last competition.

After his playing career was Sendel biathlon coach. Since the 2007/ 08 season, he is coach of the Junior / inside national team. Sendel is married and lives with his wife in Erfurt. He has 2 children. Sendel is an honorary citizen of Großbreitenbach and Jüchsen.
