Peter Straughan

Peter Straughan ( born 1968 ) is a British playwright and screenwriter.

Life

Straughan is in Gateshead, in North East England, grew up. He holds a college degree in English at Newcastle University and was initially active as a musician. In the 1990s he wrote several plays and radio plays. Since the early 2000s, he also works as a screenwriter. Here he worked closely with the screenwriter Bridget O'Connor, who passed away in September 2010. The two were married in 2008. Together they had a child.

In 2011, he staged with Gee Gee his first short film.

Together, he and O'Connor 2012 were nominated Adapted Screenplay for their screenplay to novel adaptation Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy for the Oscar in the category Best. They won in the same year the British Academy Film Award for Best Adapted Screenplay and Film Critics Society Awards were also honored at the Online.
