Peter Strudel
Peter Strudel or Strudl (* 1660 in Cles ( Trento, Italy); † October 4, 1714 in Vienna ) was an Austrian sculptor and painter. His work is in Austria the transition from the late Renaissance to the Baroque.
Life
Between 1676 and 1686, came strudel to the court in Vienna and got there along with his brother Paul Strudel a job as imperial court and chamber artist. Around 1690 he bought in the suburbs, on the " back of the Scots Point" a lot of " Gewesten kayser union Hatschieren - Corporal " Romanus Tschagon Bernhard and his wife Marie Polixena. There he built the Strudelhof.
Founder of the oldest art academy in central Europe
In 1688 he founded is a private art school, the first public school for artists outside the guild rules, along the lines of the Accademia di San Luca ( 1593) and the Paris Académie Royale ( 1648). Palais Strudlhof
