Peter Suschitzky

Peter Suschitzky ( born April 6, 1940 in London ) is a British cinematographer who is best known for his collaboration with the Canadian director David Cronenberg.

Life

The son of Wolfgang Suschitzky, an Austrian photographer and cinematographer, grew up in London. His career began in 1960 when Peter Suschitzky German television. Back in England, he soon found employment with documentaries and industrial films, since 1963 also in the movie. His debut as director of photography, he gave in It Happened Here.

In addition to working for profiled directors such as Peter Watkins, John Boorman and Ken Russell Suschitzky also photographed major productions such as The Empire Strikes Back. With Dead Ringers (1988 ) regular collaboration with David Cronenberg began.

Suschitzky was awarded in 1989, 1992 and 1996, the Canadian Genie Award for his work in Dead Ringers, Naked Lunch and Crash. In 1991, he won for the time of the colorful birds the National Society of Film Critics Award for Best Cinematography.
