Peter Thiede

Peter Thiede ( born February 13, 1968 in Ueckermuende ) from 1993 to 2008 Tax Man of Germany rowing eight. He was three times world champion in 2008 and took the fourth time in the Olympic Games in part.

Peter Thiede began his career at ASK forward Rostock. At age 19, he steered the GDR aft to world championship silver in 1987 behind the U.S. eighth. 1989 won the GDR eight silver again, this time behind the West German rollercoaster with the helmsman Manfred Klein, 1990 saw bronze at the last major appearance of the East German rowing team. As a member of the ASK successor club ORC Rostock ( Rostock Olympic Rowing Club 1956 eV) sat Thiede at the 1992 Olympics in two with coxswain. Together with his team mate Michael Peter and Thomas Woddow Thiede could occupy the fourth place in this race.

After the Olympics, Manfred Klein ended his 20 -year career and Peter Thiede took over from Klein 's position as helmsman of Germany rowing eight. 1993 and 1995 Thiede, who had moved in the meantime to the rowing club Hansa Dortmund, became world champion and 1993 he first won the Henley Royal Regatta. At the Olympic Games in 1996 of eight won silver behind the boat from the Netherlands. 1998 and 1999 won the aft again the Henley Royal Regatta, but crashed at the 1999 World Championships from to tenth place and therefore missed the Olympic qualifying for Sydney 2000. The 1.67 meter tall Peter Thiede is a soldier and lives in Herdecke. Beginning of 2009 ended his career Thiede. He takes over as coach the U23 team in the power center of Dortmund.
