Peter Urban (presenter)

Peter Urban ( born April 14, 1948 in Bramsche ) is a German journalist, musician, radio and TV presenter.

Urban attended the Gymnasium Carolinum in Osnabrück and the Artland Gymnasium in Quakenbruck. He then studied at the University of Hamburg English, sociology and history to become a teacher. After graduation, he received his doctorate in 1977 with a thesis on the texts of Anglo-American popular music (Book Title: Rolling Words - The Poetry of the skirt).

Since 1974, Peter Urban is working for the Norddeutscher Rundfunk ( NDR). In addition, he implemented various music projects as a rock musician and composer, including his band Bad News Reunion and the LP Götz George reads Charles Bukowski (1978). Since 1988, Urban is the editor of the music department of the NDR.

2003 Urban was the editor responsible for shipments Nightclub and Lounge Night on the radio station NDR Info. Next he hosts on the mission NDR 2 NDR 2 Soundcheck New Music, in which he composes his music each program exception itself.

Since 1997, commented Peter Urban the Euro Vision Song Contest in German television, only in 2009, he could not perform this task for health reasons. In 2007, he also commented on the Euro Vision Dance Contest. In 2011 he was a member of the jury of Live Entertainment Award.

On March 3, 2012 Urban was a juror at the Jewrovision in Munich.

2013 Urban is retired, but he continues to work as a freelancer.

Peter Urban is married and has two children.
