Peter V. Deuster

Peter Victor Deuster ( born February 13, 1831 in Thum, † December 31, 1904 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States) was a newspaper publisher, Member of the House of Representatives of the United States and a member of the Democratic Party. He represented the State of Wisconsin in Congress.

After he had visited in Nideggen and Düren school, he traveled with his parents in 1847 to America, where the family near Milwaukee in " New Cologne " settled. In the autumn of the same year he found in the German newspaper " Wisconsin Banner ," which was published by Moritz Schöffler, employment.

After four years, he founded a German weekly paper, the " family friend ". Six months later already he was managing director of the " Daily Seeboten " to continue as editor of the German newspaper in Port Washington his newspaper work in 1854. At the same time, he held the offices of Postmaster, Gerichtsclerks and conducted a night school for young people.

Two years later Deuster part owner of the " Milwaukeer Seebote " whose sole owner, he was a few years later. Shortly after, he was elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly and 1870 in the state Senate. During this period he published in Chicago, " Chicago Daily Union ," a democratic paper, which he sold in 1871 but again.

In 1873 he was elected to the 46th Congress of the United States. Also, the 47th and 48th Congress he was a member. During this time, he was able to work out a respectable position in the lower house of the national legislature, and conducted numerous internal political innovations that were of far-reaching significance.

19 February 1896 to 15 October 1897, he was American consul in Krefeld.
