Peter van Merksteijn, Jr.

Peter van Merksteijn junior ( born September 1, 1982 in Hengelo ) is a Dutch rally driver. In the 2011 season he took part in ten rounds of the World Rally Championship.

Career

Peter van Merksteijn Jr. began his rally career in 2006 with a Renault Mégane at national competitions. The following year he launched with the support of the team his father Peter van Merksteijn sr. , Which is also a racing driver and won the LMP2 class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2008, with a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX in the Dutch Rally Championship. He won this year's championship of the group N.

In the same year he started with the same vehicle also the first time during a round of the World Rally Championship in Germany, where he finished in 70th place overall.

From the Rally of Portugal of the 2011 season, he starts in Van Merksteijn Motorsport team his father Citroën DS3 WRC in at ten out of thirteen rounds of the World Rally Championship. At the Rally Germany 2011, he scored with a ninth place overall, his first two championship points.

On September 19, 2011, he won the, the Dutch Rallyemeisterschft belonging, Hellendoorn Rally.
