Peter van Roye

Peter van Roye (* May 30, 1950 in Lingen (Ems ) ) is a retired German rower.

He is a bronze medalist at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal. Together with his partner Thomas Strauss, he started in the coxless pairs and the German boat had to leave before only the boats from the GDR with Bernd and Jörg Voigt country and the United States with Calvin Coffey and Michael Stains. In addition to his Olympic success Peter van Roye also finished third place at the World Championships in 1974 in the coxless four in Lucerne on the Rotsee along with Klaus Jäger, Bernd Truschinski and Reinhard Wendemuth. Peter van Roye is married, has two children and works as a teacher for the subjects of geography and sports at the high school Bersenbrueck. He heads a rowing AG.
