Peterhead

Peterhead is a town and the largest settlement in Aberdeenshire most easterly point of Scotland with approximately 17,330 inhabitants ( 2006 estimate ). By 1983 they Headquartered whiskey distillery Glenugie.

  • George Keith (1638 or 1639-1716 ), Scottish Quaker missionary, in the 1670s in Germany and the Netherlands, then in New Jersey, later entered the Anglican Church, and returned to England
  • George Keith ( Earl Marischal ) ( 1693-1778 ), Scottish Jacobite and diplomat and friend of Frederick the Great. He was born on Inverugie Castle ( two miles from Peterhead ), a moth, which the family Cheyne was built in the 12th century (hence Cheyne 's Tower ), and later on went to the Earl Marischal 's and is now a ruin.
