Peterskirchen

Peterskirchen is a municipality in Upper Austria in the district of Ried in the Innviertel with 654 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013). The municipality is located in the judicial district of Ried.

Geography

Peter churches located on 441 m altitude in Innviertel. The expansion is 5.2 kilometers from north to south, from west to east 4 km away. The total area is 10.4 km ². 10.6% of the area is forested, 79.8 % of the area is used for agriculture.

History

Since the establishment of the Duchy of Bavaria, the place was Bavarian until 1779 and came to the Peace of Teschen with the Innviertel (then ' Innbaiern ') to Austria. During the Napoleonic Wars shortly Bavarian, it belongs since 1814 finally to Upper Austria. After the annexation of Austria to the German Reich on 13 March 1938, the town belonged to the " Upper Danube ". After 1945 the restoration of Upper Austria.

As probably the most important figure in the history of the place had the composer Johann Nepomuk David (1895-1977) under the name of Hans David from October 1915 to April 1920 as a teacher at the elementary school einklassigen, separated by a short time in the military in Brno (April to October 1918 ). When his hitherto most extensive composition in 1917 David completed in Peterskirchen a Mass for soloists, mixed choir, organ and orchestra ( unpublished to date ). Johann Nepomuk David was a unanimous decision by a deed dated September 1965 Honorary Citizen by Peter churches; in June 1971, the local elementary school was opened in his name, which he paid a personal visit in April 1974.
