Petit Robert

Le Petit Robert is a book published in book publishing Dictionnaires Le Robert monolingual dictionary of the French language. Its first edition was published in 1967., The term usually refers to the single-volume abridged version of the Dictionnaire de la langue analogique alphabétique et française, which includes 8 volumes. There is also a less common Petit Robert 2, Dictionnaire de culture générale, the proper nouns ( person, geographic objects, etc.) documented.

The dictionary is named after the philologist Paul Robert (1910-1980) and has already appeared in several versions and editions, in which Josette Rey- Debove and Alain Rey have cooperated.

The Le nouveau petit Robert includes 60,000 words with 300,000 meanings and their etymology, dating and pronunciation.

In addition to the Petit Larousse Petit Robert is the most common French-language dictionary. In style it corresponds to the German Duden.
