Petr Hořava (theorist)

Petr Hořava (* 20th century ) is a Czech physicist.

Life and work

Hořava was known by several co-authored with Edward Witten papers on string theory and M- theory. These articles describe a duality between ten-dimensional hetero tables E8xE8 - string and 11 -dimensional strings. Less well known Petr Hořava was for his discovery of D- branes, which described Joseph Polchinski and other physicists independently of him in 1989. He is a professor of physics at the University of California at Berkeley, where he works on quantum field theory and string theory. Hořava is also a member of the theorists Group at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.
