Petr Kadlec

Petr Kadlec ( born January 5, 1977 in Prague, Czechoslovakia) is a Czech ice hockey player who plays almost exclusively for HC Slavia Prague since the beginning of his career.

Career

Kadlec began his career in 1995 when HC Slavia Prague, for which he completed 24 games in his first season with the seniors in the Extraliga. In the following two years, he continued playing for Slavia, but was also used in partner teams in the second-rate first league. In 1997, he was then fixed to the Extraliga squad Slavia Prague. After he finished for his hometown club in the season 1999/2000 twelve games, he spent the rest of the season for Premier League rivals HC Plzeň ceramics, with whom he reached the playoffs.

In the summer of 2000 he returned to Slavia Prague, where he plays since then. In the season 2002/ 03 he won the Czech Championship with his hometown club. Due to the benefits shown he was then selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2003 by the Florida Panthers in the eighth round at 234th place. He also took part in a tryout camp for the Panthers, but did not make it in the NHL squad. Since he did not want to play in a farm team of the Panthers, he returned to the Czech Republic. A year later, his contract was terminated with the Panthers, so that Kadlec never played an NHL game.

At the end of the season 2007/ 08 he won with Slavia another championship title to which in the playoffs he played a big part with nine points scorer. In the 2010/11 season he led his team as a captain on the ice.

Internationally

His first jobs for a Czech team selection had Petr Kadlec at the Junior World Championships in 1997, where he reached the fourth place with his team-mates the U20 selection. In the following years he was repeatedly used for international matches of the Euro Hockey Tour and preseason games, but did not make it into a squad for international title fights. It was not until 2003 he was again nominated for a World Championship, where he finished fourth with the Czech national team.
