Petr Kouba

Petr Kouba ( born January 28, 1969 in Prague ) is a former Czech football player and current goalkeeping coach.

Career

The goalkeeper played in his youth for Slavoj Vyšehrad and Bohemians Prague, at Bohemians he succeeded also the leap into the first team. In early 1991 undertook the local rivals Sparta Prague the young talent.

On 30 January of that year Kouba debuted in the Czechoslovak national team. In the next few years he was a regular goalkeeper at Sparta. His breakthrough on the international scene he succeeded at the European Championships in England in 1996, when the Czech National Team came up in the final. In this, the Czechs eventually lost to Germany by a goalkeeper error of Kouba. For about 1.6 million euros Kouba joined Deportivo La Coruña where he could not last never take off because of his alien status. In his first season, he completed just four games and was loaned in the 1997/98 season at the first FC Kaiserslautern, where he would replace as a goalkeeper Andreas Reinke. Kouba, however, could also be found in the Palatinate not prevail, was injured and did not a single Bundesliga Official Match. Because doping he was locked for four weeks.

Kouba still had a contract in La Coruña and was borrowed from the 1998/99 season at Viktoria Zizkov, for which he played 23 games. He returned to Spain, but came in two seasons to only two appearances for the team from Galicia. In 2001 he moved to FK Jablonec free transfer, for which he was in 19 games in goal. Then Kouba returned to his former club Sparta Prague, but did not get beyond also due to his injury problems over three bets.

In the summer of 2005, he ended his career and was goalkeeping coach at Sparta.
