Petra Bierwirth

Petra Bierwirth ( born November 13, 1960 in Dresden ) is a German politician (SPD). She was from 1994 to 1998 Member of the Landtag of Brandenburg and from 1998 to 2009 Member of the German Bundestag.

Life and career

After attending the Polytechnic High School Petra Bierwirth started in 1977 an apprenticeship for skilled worker for operation, measurement, control and regulation technology, which she finished in 1980. After a subsequent evening studies, she graduated in 1981 with the Abitur. After that, she earned a degree in technical cybernetics at the University of Leipzig, which she finished in 1986 as a graduate engineer in technical cybernetics and automation systems. Then she was up to 1994 Associate in the water supply and wastewater treatment Berlin ( Berlin Water Works since 1991 ). Here they belonged from 1990 to 1994 also the Staff. From 1995 to 1997 she completed a postgraduate course " Environmental Science and Environmental Protection" at the Humboldt University in Berlin. from 1 November 2009 to 30 March 2013, it was Executive Director of the Children Aftercare Clinic Berlin -Brandenburg in Bernau bei Berlin gGmbH, district forest settlement.

Petra Bierwirth is married and has two sons.

Party

Since 1990 Petra Bierwirth is a member of the SPD. From 1998 to 2010 she was chairman of the SPD sub-district Barnim. On 23 October 2010 it was replaced by Daniel Kurth.

Member of Parliament

From 1990 to 1994 she was a member of the municipal council of their former place of residence Schönerlinde and also agree with the district council of the circle Bernau and from 1994 to 1996 of Barnim district.

From 1994 to 1998 Petra Bierwirth was a member of the Landtag of Brandenburg. Here she was from 1996, environmental spokesperson for the SPD parliamentary group.

From 1998 to 2009 she was a member of the German Bundestag. From 1999 to 2005 she was deputy environmental policy spokeswoman for the SPD parliamentary group. In the 16th legislative period (2005-2009), she chaired the Committee on the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety.

Petra Bierwirth is 1998 as directly elected representatives of the constituency Eberswalde - drawn Barnim II in the Bundestag - Bernau - Bad Freiwalde and since 2002 the constituency Maerkisch -or country. In the 2005 federal election it achieved 35.4 % of the primary vote.
