Petran ( Albanian: Petrani ) is a municipality and a village in the district Përmet, Qark Gjirokastra in southern Albania. The municipality has 1622 inhabitants ( 2011 census ). According to local authorities data for the year 2010 lived in the town of 3243 inhabitants. The village lies in the valley of the Petran Vjosa few kilometers south of Përmet. The municipal area covers the northern part of the eastern flank of the Nemërçka, one of the highest mountains in southern Albania, and the hills in the east of the river Vjosa, a total of 184 square kilometers.

36 percent of the population is younger than 18 years. There are 15 schools in the community. Not quite 40 percent of the population currently have work. 1377 hectares of land is used for agriculture. From 70 percent of the working population in the agricultural sector are active, and about a quarter work seasonally in Greece.

The road from Përmet south to the Greek border after Leskovik performs Petran.

In Petran right side flows into the river Lengarica in the Vjosa. A little further up in the valley of Lengarica found in Benja thermal springs, known as Banjat e Benjes. These are some natural pools, but a tourist development is under discussion. Next to it stands a stone bridge from the 18th century, the Ura e Kadiut. Behind them the river valley narrows to a very narrow canyon. The 100 meter deep gorge is over a long distance only a few meters wide. Thermal springs and gorge are nature reserves, as well as a cave nearby. Also two pine forests are protected areas, the large pine forest of Hotoves - Dangelli even a national park.
