Petrčane

Petrčane ( formerly " Petrčane "; Italian Peterzane ) is a village in the County of Zadar in Croatia with about 500 inhabitants.

It is located about 12 kilometers northwest of Zadar on the book of the same at the port of Zadar and in summer is a popular holiday resort. The place is here framed by the two peninsulas Punta Radman scale and scale. It is divided into the seaside district of Donje Petrčane and the higher -lying district Gornje Petrčane.

Its history dates back about 800 years in the Middle Ages Petrčane was in possession of the monasteries of the Holy Chrysogomus and Holy Plato from Zara. The people made their living mainly from fishing and agriculture, today tourism is the main source of income.

Southeast of the village by the sea, the building of the former St. Bartholomew (12th -13th century) preserved with a massive bell tower on the front side, this was later used as a residential building ( Kulina ). On the walls, remains of wall paintings can be seen.
