Petrofina

Compagnie Financière Belge of Pétroles, abbreviated Petrofina, was founded on February 25, 1920 by a group of investors from Antwerp, originally for control of German oil companies after the First World War.

The oil company was involved in all aspects of the petroleum industry and also had their own refineries. In Europe, America and Africa, the products were sold under the brand name " Fina ". Albert Frère was one of the major shareholders of the Company.

1980, the Company operated in West Germany 792 Fina service stations, of which 319 are self-service.

1999 Petrofina merged with its French counterpart Total for Totalfina. A year later its merger with the French Elf Aquitaine for TotalFinaElf. This name but was already abandoned in favor of Total 2003. Albert Frère is one of the major shareholders after the merger of the three groups.
