Petrov (crater)

Petrov is an impact crater on the southeastern edge of the lunar front side, south of the Mare Australe, south of the crater Lyot and west of Chamberlin. The rim is eroded, the interior largely flat.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1970 after the Soviet rocket engineer Yevgeny Petrovich Petrov.
