Petrovany
Petrovany (Slovak only 1927-1948 and until 1927 also " Petroviany "; German Petersdorf, Hungarian Tarcaszentpéter - to 1907 Szentpéter ) is a municipality in eastern Slovakia, with 1813 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011). It is located in Okres Prešov, Prešov Region of a circle.
Geography
The municipality is located in the basin Košická kotlina on the left bank of the Torysa, partially separated by the D1 highway from the resort. The center is located at an altitude of 233 m nm, eight kilometers south of the center of Prešov.
Administratively divided the community into districts Močarmany (up to 1927 " Močiarmany ", incorporated in 1965 ), and Petrovany Vysielač.
History
Petrovany originated in the 11th or 12th century in an older church. A church is first mentioned in writing in 1304, the place 1333. 1828 are listed 98 houses and 772 inhabitants.
