Petrovice I

Petrovice I ( German Petrowitz I) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located 13 kilometers south-west of Čáslav and belongs to Okres Kutná Hora.

Geography

Petrovice I is located in the Bohemian- Moravian Highlands in a headwaters of numerous streams. To the northeast lies the Stauweiher Zbožnov.

Neighboring towns are Újezdec in the north, Senetín in the northeast, Damirov in the east, in the southeast Dobrovítov, Dědice and Michalovice in the south, Víckovice in the southwest, and Bludov Zhoř in the west and Chválov and Plhov in the northwest.

History

Petrovice was probably founded by the 11th at the transition to the 12th century. According to a legend, the area should have heard the three brothers Petr, Jan and Čáslav, each of which founded settlements that have been named after them Petrovice Janovice and Čáslav. In 1352 Petro Vice was first documented and was the seat of Vladikengeschlechts Petro Vice. After the Thirty Years' War, Heinrich von Haugwitz acquired on Biskupitz Petro Vice.
