Petteri Wirtanen

Petteri Wirtanen ( born May 28, 1986 in Hyvinkää ) is a Finnish professional ice hockey player who plays for KHL rookie HK Donbass Donetsk on the position of the center since May 2012.

Career

Petteri Wirtanen began his career in 2004 at HPK Hämeenlinna in the SM- liiga, for which he ran aground two years and won the Finnish championship in 2006. In 2002, he was there changed, after he had learned to play hockey with his hometown club Ahmat Hyvinkää. In a total of 71 games he reached twelve points and received 36 penalty minutes. Wirtanen was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2006 by the Anaheim Ducks in the sixth round of a total of 172 positions. The following two years were spent mostly in the offensive player the Portland Pirates, the former farm team the Ducks in the American Hockey League.

In the 2007 /08 season, he was first appointed to the NHL squad and used in three games in which he was able to make a hit. The following year, spent the Finn again in a Minor League and was active for the Iowa Chops, which at that time were also among the farm teams of the Southern Californians. In 78 games he scored 41 points and received 50 penalty minutes. The chops were excluded for the 2009/10 season from the game, after which he returned to his native Finnish and HIFK Helsinki signed a treaty for which it ran aground in 2012. By HIFK he won in 2011 another Finnish championship and led in the following season his team as an assistant captain on the ice.

In May 2012, Wirtanen was awarded a contract with the KHL rookie HK Donbass Donetsk.

Internationally

In the U20 World Youth Championship 2006, he won the bronze medal with the U20 national team of Finland. In addition, he played in the U18 World Youth Championship in 2004.

In the senior level Wirtanen came between 2010 and 2012 games, the Euro Hockey Tour used.
