Peugeot 305 (1977-1982)

The Peugeot 305 was a vehicle between compact and mid-range of Peugeot. It was produced by the fall of 1977 until the end of 1988 and replaced the Peugeot 304 from.

History

The Peugeot 305 was introduced in November 1977 and initially offered only as a four-door notchback sedan.

In August 1980, still followed the traditional break -called combination. From him there was a van version Break Service with only two side doors and side panels verblechten.

Engines and propulsion

The Peugeot 305 was offered during its construction with different engine variants, all engines were four cylinder. The first generation took over the well-known by the Peugeot 304 engine design with gearbox in the sump (1.3 liter and 1.5 liter engine with 44 kW and 54 kW). Aluminum engine block with wet replaceable cylinder liners and an overhead camshaft. Diagnostic connector for ignition testing and common engine transmission oil filling of about 4 liters. Maintenance intervals for oil change every 7500 km, for inspections every 15,000 km. Later were the XU engines with classical separation of engine and transmission available (1.6 liter with 54 kW and 71 kW, 1.9-liter with 75 kW or 72 kW with catalytic converter).

The naturally aspirated diesel engine used in the Peugeot 205, Citroën Visa and many other PSA Group models with 1.9 liter displacement and 48 kW, the engine range rounded downwards. First, even a short-stroke 1.5 - liter diesel engine was offered.

The engine was installed transversely over the front axle. In the Peugeot museum, however, is a prototype that uses the PRV engine longitudinally in front of the front axle. The 305 was only available with front-wheel drive.

Models

The 305 was offered as a sedan and station wagon, the external dimensions of the bodies were almost identical for both models:

  • Length: 4240 mm ( sedan ), 4260 mm ( Break)
  • Width: 1630 mm ( sedan ), 1640 mm ( Break)
  • Height: 1400 mm ( sedan ), 1420 mm ( Break)

With the revision in the fall of 1982, the body was given a flatter, more aerodynamic front section. In addition, the series designation of the hood, which was now to be found, as in all other models at the stern disappeared.

The 305 was a patrol car in use until the end of the 1990s in the Saarland. This was due to the traditional connection of the Saarland to France after the Second World War, see Saar protectorate and the fact that Peugeot Germany in the state capital of Saarbrücken had his seat.
