Pfefferfließ

Pepper floating in God village

The strongly meandering flow in the upper reaches pepper is a right tributary of the Nieplitz in Brandenburg. The 16 km long river is interesting in terms of nature conservation and the moorland restoration in the Nuthe Nieplitz.

Course

The marshy, crisscrossed by rivulets headwaters of Fließes located near Luckenwalde at Frankenförde in Baruth glacial valley. The still undeveloped in the upper reaches of river winds through meadows and fields parallel to Nuthe north and reached the village of Gottsdorf the extended community Nuthe- glacial valley. With an idyllic landscape of Brandenburg, the pepper flow between the villages Dobbrikow and Hennickendorf runs, past the newly created lakes in Stangenhagen and ends at the time immediately before the Blankensee in Körzin in the Nieplitz. The mouth is located just opposite the point at which the relatively wide Königsgraben branches from the Nieplitz. If appropriate planning of the municipality Stangenhagen reality, the pepper flow is provided in the rod Hagen lake to reach around a thousand meters back the Nieplitz.

Ecology

The pepper flow is a stream, which rises in a groundwater- fed fen area. The ground around the flow is characterized by Flachmoortorf on a sandy bottom, can be found in the bog iron inclusions.

Königsgraben and moorland restoration in the lower reaches

Not only in the upper reaches of the Fließes the Brandenburg ground was swampy floodplain, also in the lower reaches at Stangenhagen, Körzin was still 1750 where you saw the land a wilderness with fens, nothing but water, streams, bush and reed around. Only when Frederick the Great had to create 1772 to 1782 the king digging in the years that considerable quantities of water of pepper Fließes were derived faster at the following Nieplitz chain of lakes passing directly into the Nuthe and be transferred to the part in the documentation required by Friedrich usable state the country. An extensive system with larger trenches like pepper ditch digging and rhinestone leads today to the flow of water from the wetland.

But it was only in 1967, when a pumping station in Stangenhagen began its work on behalf of agriculture, the area could be effectively drained. This in turn had a significant destruction of the remaining rest of Moore's result that after switching off the pumping station very quickly became a new, yet on many maps uncharted shallow lake since 1991. Up from such rewetted area again a living Moor will perish years. See, detailed flora and fauna as well as the new bird observation tower Stangenhagen.

Nature reserve Upper pepper flow

In the upper reaches of the pepper floating around the 250 -acre nature reserve Upper pepper flow, which is designated as a nature reserve only since April 2003 forms. The corresponding decree of 14 April 2003 stands as a protective purpose of the reserve, the natural area is part of the " Luckenwalder Heide " and plays an important role in the regional habitat network, in particular the following measures out:

  • The preservation and development as a habitat of wild plant communities, particularly characteristic and rare, threatened in their existence nutrient-poor Moortümpel companies, small harrows grass, reeds and sedge companies, dry grasslands and the pedunculate oak -hornbeam forest;
  • The conservation and development of the area as food or refuge and potential re-expansion center of wildlife species, especially for marsh and water birds and grassland birds, as well as bound to aquatic habitats mammals;
  • The maintenance and development of a natural, meandering watercourse with remarkable fish fauna;
  • The conservation and restoration of the self-cleaning capacity of the watercourse;
  • The maintenance and development of the function of a regional ecological network

The maintenance and development measures lead to an already visible near-natural river morphology with extensively used buffer zones. When high ground water level of the stream flows on alluvial soil ( Flachmoortorf on clay at near groundwater ) through vast reed beds and sedge. Remains of an English oak- hornbeam forest and dry lawns complement the current image of nature.

Water mills on the flow

Obermuhle

How to Nuthe and Nieplitz there were also on pepper yield some water mills. The name comes from the Fließes supposedly the onomatopoeia it peperte so, so the sound of the millstones and the Fließes should be expressed. Receive and partially rehabilitated are north of the village of God building the upper mill and one kilometer further downstream the mill of the latch; the old Upper Mill is a grist mill still in operation. However, there are no visible mill romance with external waterwheel, because the water wheel is located inside the mill. To Obermuhle include a house, a bakery and an oven; old millstones are embedded in some places in the masonry. Compared to the upper mill, on the other side of the Fließes leads past the mill route, a 17.5 km long Nordic walking race track of the new flaming- Walk, which was created with other routes in the network of Nuthe Nieplitz and community Nuthe- glacial valley.

Jack mill

Both mills were located by selling Luckenwalde on the Zinna Abbey ( 1285) owned by the Cistercian monks. The pawl mill originally stood, and in the 14th century at Dobbrikow and was moved to the middle of the 17th century in the nearby village of God. As this former Untermühle got its name, is unclear. Probably not the name of Jack, but of sound derives, as the legend attributes the Great Elector, following the transfer of the mill to the gradient richer section to the saying: Now it sounds better. But the former miller take according to tradition, the name " claim " they heard the sound but supposedly flow. Today the mill is no longer in operation; the typical half-timbered building and its outbuildings have been preserved and modernized and used as a farm guesthouse.
