Pfunds

Pound ( rätorom. Fuond ) is a municipality with 2532 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the Landeck district in Tyrol ( Austria ). The municipality is part of the judicial district of Landeck.

Geography

Pound is in the High Court, the upper section of the Tyrolean Inn Valley, in the triangle near the borders with Switzerland and Italy. When Kajetansbrücke the streets to Spiss and on to Montague and to Nauders and Reschenpass branch off.

History

Pound was first mentioned in 1282. In both districts in the center are handsome medium-floor houses with projecting gable roofs, open staircases and painted facade in the Engadine style. A representative example is the former court house in Stuben. The houses are a testament to the prosperity of the place from the time when the trade between Augsburg and Venice still above the upper path, the Reschenpass and the Fern Pass was. The Church of Our Lady in Stuben was built in 1470 in late gothic style in 1680 and received a Baroque altar.

Pound was until the end of 1920 part of the judicial district Nauders, but this was resolved by the First World War and the judicial district of Ried slammed in Tyrol. Since 1978, the community is part of the judicial district of Landeck.

Economy

In the 1980s, pound positioned as " Ökogemeinde ". There were plans to derive the Inn from the Swiss border in a power plant canal to Prutz.
